IT'S THAT TIME!!! The global soul dance party SOL ASCENSION returns to SOB's for a night of music and mayhem!

On Saturday, June 20th, party host MANCHILDBLACK (Libation) welcomes the resident DJ of the legendary afrobeat party Jump N' Funk, RICH MEDINA. One of the most in demand spinners on the planet, Rich is as widely known for his music production as he is for his eclectic DJ sets at NYC soirees like Lil' Ricky's Rib Shack @ APT, Happy Feet with DJ Bobbito Garcia and Open with rapper/DJ Q-tip. The night will be made complete with a live performance by powerful recording artist, URSULA RUCKER! Born and raised in the Central African Republic, Boddhi is world renowned for his "Ancestral Soul" mixes and productions which have led him to being signed by dance music heavyweights Osunlade and Louie Vega. In 2008 he launched his own label, Offering Recordings while continuing to release a stream of dance floor bangers for labels like: Ocha Records, Franck Roger Digital, Deeper Shades Records and UGH. LIBATION celebrates DJ Ian Friday's b-day w/KINDRED the FAMILY SOUL :: Thurs. 5/14

Tea Party Music & Manchildblack invite you to the mecca of global soul culture...LIBATION!

On Thursday, May 14th the party that Time Out NY calls "a full-on throwdown" will celebrate the birthday of its esteemed resident dj, the incomparable Ian Friday. This amazing night of music will be taken to the next level with a live performance by the critically acclaimed husband and wife duo Kindred the Family Soul!

Signed to Hidden Beach Recordings, Kindred emerged from the Philadelphia neo soul movement that also includes Jill Scott, who discovered them while the couple was performing at the Black Lily Film & Music Festival.

Hidden Beach issued their debut album Surrender to Love in February 2003, which included, among others, the songs "Rhythm of Life" and "Far Away". Their follow-up album was 2005's In This Life Together spawning the single "Where Would I Be (The Question)".

The duo were nominated for a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Album, Group Band or Duo for Surrender to Love in 2004 and a BET Award for the BET J Cool Like That Award in 2006. The group's third LP, The Arrival, was released in 2008 and includes the the single "House of Love" which has been given a Tea Party Music remix by Ian Friday himself. The party that Time Out NY hails as a "full-on throwdown" returns to Sullivan Room after two amazing events at Miami's 2009 Winter Music Conference!

On Thursday, April 9th Libation will heat up NYC nightlife once again when resident dj and global soul guru Ian Friday shares the decks with one of Baltimore's finest, DJ Oji (Poji Records). From his stellar production on dance floor anthems like "Esteban" and "We Lift Our Hands in the Sanctuary" to his popular residencies at hot spots Club Red and the DC Sanctuary, DJ Oji continues to be one of house music's best resources.
