Two years ago, we sat in Ian's living room and imagined an event that
would be both sexy and feel like home, celebrate all things soulful, and be a
place where we would see old friends and make new ones. We wanted a space
where the best deejays, singers, musicians, visual artists, and dancers could
come together and share their gifts with the most discerning, open-minded,
and funkiest of people. You all have lived in this dream.
We have seen an illustrious list of deejays: Osunlade, Karizma, DJ
Spinna, Rich Medina, Jihad Muhammad, Frankie Feliciano, Herb Martin, Kervyn
Marks, Chris Annibell, Lou Gorbea, Brian Coxx, Sabine, and the Ladies of
Ubiquita. You have witnessed an amazing set of singers including Lady Alma, Eric
Roberson, Sara Devine, Wunmi, Maya Azucena, Chris Rob, Stephanie McKay,
Queen AaMinah, and Byron Moore. Your eyes have feasted on the work of
incredible visual artists: Concep & the Collaborative Arts Project, Fly
Lady Di, Crystal Clarity, Craig Anthony Miller, Joshua Humphries, Dister
Rondon, Ibrahim, Valerie Norris, Gasoulean, Nevet & Zaca, and the phenomenal
dance collective Afro Mosaic Soul.
On Thursday, April 24th we will celebrate our 2nd anniversary in a
major way when we feature a live concert by the brilliantly talented recording
artist/singer/musician, Peven Everett. He will be joined by his band,
Seance Divine, as we turn the cozy Sapphire Lounge into a modern-day
juke joint.
Please note that the admission to this event is $10 until 11pm and $12
after. Also, there will be no guest list on this night.
